How many times have you bought a reusable "bag for life" with the intention of cutting down on your use of carrier bags? If you are anything like us, you will have bought several.

Plastic bags are terrible for the environment, most are thrown away and scientists believe they take between 500 – 1,000 years to break down in a landfill site. Using reusable bags has a very positive impact on the environment but its remembering to carry them that's the problem.

Supermarkets are now begining to accept that plastic carrier bags are bad for the environment.  Marks and Spencer has started charging 5p per bag in order to reduce usage.

Reducing the UKs carrier bag consumption by 25% would have the same positive environmental impact as removing 18,000 cars from the roads.

People are getting better and better at taking reusable bags with them for their weekly supermarket shop, but it's those unplanned spur of the moment shopping expeditions which catch us out.
